Yard Waste Recycling

Grass clippings, leaves, weeds, and brush are all considered yard waste. Many residents compost or allow these items to decompose into nutrient-rich soil amendment. By taking advantage of this natural recycling process, you can help minimize the amount of trash that goes to the landfill.

  • OCRRA's compost sites - Each year, over 30,000 users visit OCRRA’s two yard waste compost sites, located in Jamesville and Amboy (in the Town of Camillus).
  • Yard Waste Composting - How Do I Build A Compost Pile? It’s easy! Follow these simple steps...

Many local municipalities, including the City of Syracuse, provide yard waste collection services. Call your local DPW or highway garage for more information.
