New Campaign Reminds People to BlueBin Their Recyclables
OCRRA’s new education campaign, which debuted in March of 2007, focuses
on the well known Blue Bin, and its ties to residential and commercial usage.
OCRRA’s newest public education campaign features the catchy tag “BlueBinit.” The
phrase “BlueBinit” encourages people do exactly that with their recyclable
materials – put them in their Blue Bin. The campaign centers on actual
items that people are less likely to recycle, according to OCRRA’s statistics,
items such as magazines, newspapers, and junkmail.
By directly displaying what
to recycle in the ads, OCRRA hopes to clearly illustrate just what it means to “BlueBinit” and
follow proper recycling procedures. Andy Brigham, OCRRA spokesperson, stated, “I’m
truly looking forward to doing something different to promote OCRRA and spread
recycling awareness. We’ve had enormous success in the past and are anticipating
even more in upcoming months.”
OCRRA is gaining momentum in its quest to
clarify and eliminate any recycling confusion for the people of Onondaga County
by working closely with Syracuse-based advertising agency, ABC Creative Group,
who helped develop the new campaign.
Owner of ABC Creative Group, Travis Bort
says, “A lot of people know of the Blue Bin, but they don’t realize
that OCRRA is the main organization fueling this movement and supporting Onondaga
County as the principle source for recycling information.” The new campaign
will establish www.OCRRA.org as the ultimate source for recycling information
ranging from business to household use, with “BlueBinit” as the call
to action. Helpful information pertaining to any issues related to recycling
and resource recovery can be found on the website. Besides on the web, recycling
awareness will be spread via Reference Sheets delivered to homes and businesses
in the community outlining recyclable items.
OCRRA ignited the recycling revolution
in the 1990s with “Operation Separation” and has been providing Onondaga
County with sound environmental solutions since then. Through its new innovative
education campaign, “Bluebinit”, OCRRA aims to successfully boost
Onondaga County’s recycling effort and establish their website as the primary
source for recycling information.
