Breaking
a fluorescent bulb releases harmful mercury vapors, so it is important to properly
dispose of these types of bulbs. They should never go in your trash. But what
should you do with them?
OCRRA has teamed up with 14 ACE and True Value Hardware Stores to provide
a free drop-off point for burned out fluorescents.
Residents now have an earth friendly way for safe disposal of three types
of fluorescent lights commonly found in the home:
- 4-foot fluorescent tubes (no 8-footers, please).
- Compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs).
- U-shaped fluorescents.
OCRRA will continue to accept all other residential fluorescent bulbs at any
one of their three household hazardous waste days. The drop-off program is for
residents only. |
